5 minute vegan raspberry and banana smoothie

Last night I wrote a recipe for a vegan banana milkshake, you can get the recipe for that here. It was sad to learn that Swedish Glace ice cream is not available everywhere in the world. Therefore I have created this smoothie recipe for Angela at uberdish and Celeste at Honk If You’re Vegan to cheer them up about not being able to buy Swedish Glace ice cream (because yes, it’s really that good). I’d like to remind everyone that I’m not getting paid to promote Swedish Glace, but I’d be more than willing to (please send me free stuff). Anyway, until the day comes when I become brilliant at everything and can make my own ice cream (which I will obviously post about here), here’s a smoothie recipe:

1 large and ripe banana (or 2 small ones)
1 large apple (or 2 small ones)
2 handfuls of raspberries


  1. Peel the banana and chop it into small slices, put it in the blender
  2. Peel and core the apple and chop it into small piece then put it in the blender
  3. Add the raspberries to the blender and pulse until there are no large chunks of fruit
  4. Add between 50ml – 100ml water (I prefer 100, but all my friends tell it’s better with only 50)
  5. Blend the fruit and water together until sufficiently mixed (it should be a thick liquid)
  6. Pour into a glass, serve and enjoy!

I love milkshakes. I miss milkshakes. I thought I would have to give them up. I don’t, thanks to the lovely people at Swedish Glace who make awesome vegan vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, I am not currently getting paid to praise their product (although I’m willing to whore out this blog for some free ice cream people), but this ice cream truly is a great replacement product, almost certainly better than it non-vegan counterparts. Just don’t try their raspberry flavored one, it’s not good, it’s not good at all (tastes like medicine, and not like the good calpol stuff). Anyway, the point is I have a recipe for vegan banana milkshakes! Exciting, isn’t it?


1 large/ripe banana
100ml rice milk (or other non-dairy milk, I have tried it with soya milk, it’s not quite as good)
2 (heaped) tbsp vegan vanilla ice cream (I used Swedish Glace Vanilla ice cream)
Cocoa powder for sprinkling on top (if you feel like it)


  1. Peel and chop the banana and put it in the blender, blend it until pulverized
  2. Add the soya milk and blend until mixed together well
  3. Then add the ice cream, blend until it is liquid
  4. Pour into a cup, if you want it extra cool, put it in the fridge for 5 minutes, otherwise, sprinkle with cocoa and serve

If you would like a chocolate/banana milkshake, add extra cocoa powder to the mix at the same time as the soya milk (1 heaped tbsp)
